A designer at the show: approachable original art for your home
Looking for a genuine original artwork for your home or office? Head to the Salon d'Automne 2026, the season's big contemporary art fair. It leans towards traditional art, so you don't need to be an expert to enjoy it, and prices are perfectly reasonable. Every piece is one of a kind, lovingly crafted by the artist — a sincerity no mass-produced print can ever convey. Chatting with the artists on site, I found that most of them happily take commissions, adapting both subject and size — the perfect way to match the mood of an interior and the owners' personal taste.
One regret, though: at fairs like this you still come across sculptures by Chinese artists that seem designed above all to please Western tastes. Honestly, they make me uncomfortable, and I can't imagine who would want to take them home. I hope these artists will soon break free from that mindset.
